For two decades, our founder, Dr. Alex Lickerman, worked at University of Chicago, teaching tomorrow’s doctors the art and science of medicine, taking care of patients, and running a variety of departments, including the Primary Care Group and Student Health and Counseling Services. But struggling through the relentless grind of seeing one patient after another for only 15 minutes at a time convinced him that primary care needed to change.
So in January of 2016, Dr. Lickerman and Rhea Campbell founded ImagineMD, a direct primary care medical practice that combines cutting-edge, evidence-based care with the old-fashioned idea that spending time with patients is the best way to care for them.

A nationally recognized speaker on the topic of resilience, our founder, Dr. Lickerman, wrote his first book, The Undefeated Mind: On the Science of Constructing an Indestructible Self, to detail evidence-based steps one can take to increase resilience and then used it to form the basis of the landmark Resilience Project, which he created while at the University of Chicago and exported to ImagineMD as the Undefeated Minds Program.
